Louis Salvail
Researcher
Louis Salvail
I obtained my Ph.D. from the Université de Montréal in 1998. In the language of academic lineage, my academic ancestors are Gilles Brassard and Claude Crépeau. Interestingly, Gilles is also my grandfather since Claude is my brother. In the academic milieu, such lineages are quite natural.
I began my academic career at Aarhus University in Denmark from 1998 to 2008. I had the incredible opportunity to work with Ivan Damgaard, to whom I owe a lot. It is at Aarhus University that I learned the basics of classical cryptography, which are so useful to me today.
I joined the Department of Computer Science at the Université de Montréal in June 2008. I am a member of the Laboratory of Theoretical and Quantum Computing (LITQ). In the semester beginning in January 2009, I will be teaching an introduction to cryptography as well as an introduction to computer security.
