    • Yeast extract: 3.000 g/l
    • Peptone from gelatin: 7.000 g/l
    • Salts bile: 1.500 g/l
    • D(+) Glucose: 10.000 g/l
    • Sodium chloride: 5.000 g/l
    • Neutral red: 0.030 g/l
    • Crystal violet: 0.002 g/l
    • Agar: 13.000 g/l

Description: VRBG represents an innovative modification of the Violet Red Bile Agar and the MacConkey Agar techniques initially devised by Mossel et al. This unique formulation includes glucose, enhancing both the growth of fastidious enterobacteria and the recovery of those subjected to adverse conditions. By removing lactose while retaining glucose, the medium's efficiency remains unwavering.

Technique: Our VRBG supports precise microbiological analysis with the following steps:

    1. Collect, dilute, and prepare samples as required by official standards and specifications.
    2. Melt the medium in bottles using a water bath (100ºC) or a microwave, ensuring careful temperature control.
    3. Pour the cooled medium into Petri dishes.
    4. Solidify on a flat surface and use streaking or spiral methods for plate preparation.
    5. Incubate the plates aerobically at 35ºC±2.0 for 24 hours, adjusting based on specific sample requirements.
    6. Enumerate reddish-violet colonies with a red-violet halo, indicative of bile salts precipitation.
    7. Confirm presumptive isolation of E. coli or coliforms with additional microbiological and biochemical tests.
    8. Calculate the total microbial count per ml of the sample.

Quality Control: Our commitment to quality assurance is evident through rigorous physical, chemical, and microbiological controls:

    • Color: Violet-pink
    • pH: 7.4 ± 0.2 at 25ºC
    • Microbiological control with select microorganisms, ensuring product reliability.
