Michel Nganbe is a Graduate Program Coordinator, Associate Director, and Professor at the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2006 after 5 years in the industry. Dr. Nganbe is actively involved in teaching, research, and development in the fields of Materials and Manufacturing. His research primarily focuses on metallic and ceramic materials, fiber, nanotube, and particle reinforced metal and ceramic composites for functional, biomedical, and structural applications. His work spans various industries, including aerospace, automotive, transportation, defense, mining, implants, and tools. The materials he designs offer lightweight, high strength, and resistance to impact, high temperature, wear, and corrosion. He specializes in casting, squeeze casting, and powder metallurgy manufacturing processes to tailor the materials' local properties to meet specific component demands and functions. Michel Nganbe earned his Ph.D. from the Dresden University of Technology in 2002, where he conducted research on precipitation and dispersion-strengthened superalloys in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research.
