The National University of Barranca (UNAB) was created on July 6, 2010, according to Law No. 29553. Its establishment was due to the efforts of civil society, local, provincial, and regional authorities, as well as other citizens eager to forge a better future for themselves and the entire Province of Barranca. UNAB seeks to train professionals with integrity, competence, social responsibility, and commitment to the sustainable development of the region and the country. In addition, the university has obtained the Institutional License for a period of 6 years, becoming the first licensed university in the Lima region. Its focus is on contributing to strategic economic and social growth and development through the reasonable use of the region's natural and agricultural resources in harmony with the preservation of the environment.
